With a view to widen the scope for providing best knowledge in design techniques, the Artists from Weavers’ Service Centre and other Art Schools are being engaged, apart from the regular skilled faculties and textile technologists of the Institute. The designs comprises both for weaving and for printing (by block and screen-printing). In addition to the traditional designs, modern designs in weaving and printing are also being taught to the students. As a part of curriculum, students are also trained in jacquard designs, graph making, card cutting and lacing The CATD & CCM facility of the Institute helps in preparing the designs and colour schemes. Close association of Design section with weaving section is maintained for making the jalas and point-paper designs, keeping in view the type of yarn, dye-stuffs and weaving techniques. Care is taken to see that the design developed re within the discipline impose by the types of yarn, dye stuffs and weaving techniques as per requirement of the prescribed syllabus.
